In less than an hour we will participate in the Earth Hour Global Movement. I just wanna share the email I received about two weeks ago form the Alumni Office. Hope we can make a difference with this one hour only out of the 24 hours that we have, out of the 365 days in a year! So here it is:
{AdDU Alumni Affairs ePost # 51: 2008}
March 12, 2008
Greetings from the Ateneo de Davao!
A number of our alumni and friends, among them Mr. Richard K. Villanueva (GS’79, HS’83 and Ateneo de Davao University Blue Knight Alumni Association President), shared with the Alumni Office the “Earth Hour” notice below.
Earth Hour 2008 is a global movement that aims to “fuel awareness on climate change and prove that when people of the world work together, they can make a difference in the fight against global warming“. In the Philippines, Earth Hour will be on Saturday, March 29, 2008 from 8:00 to 9:00 pm.
If total non-use of electricity for an hour is too inconvenient, perhaps a partial participation may be better than no involvement at all. Just be careful about unattended lighted candles, please!
The Vatican recently came out with a list of “new sins”. Among these seven “new or modern sins” is environmental pollution. More information on these new sins may be viewed at http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080310/hl_nm/pope_sins_dc_3 or at http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7287071.stm
I hope our alumni and friends will consider joining the global revolution of protecting our environment. Please … “Thou shalt not pollute the earth”
God bless you and your loved ones. God bless Mother Earth! A Blessed Holy Week!

YOUR participation will go a long way in spreading the message that we, as individual droplets working collectively – can create an impetus far more powerful than the mightiest of rivers. For more information, log on to the WWF Earth Hour page at www.earthhour.org
