Caregiver by Star Cinema
03 Jun 2008
I have been looking forward to watching Sharon Cuneta‘s movie Caregiver from Star Cinema which started showing last May 28 nationwide. But then I was thinking what if I would just wait for it to be shown on TV or when we get a copy of it in DVD which my sister in UK is also asking for a copy to be sent to her when someone she knows from here would go back to UK. But H & I finally watched it yesterday at NCCC Mall.
Caregiver is about Sarah (Sharon) who is a former teacher here in the Philippines and quits her job to be a caregiver in London. As one of her students describe it “you make punas punas the pwet of the elderly” was her job there. Her husband Teddy played by John Estrada is working supposedly as a nurse there and had been working there already. So Sharon was to follow him there, give up her job, lose a possible promotion in her job by next school year and leave her son behind. I could not imagine being far away from my baby. Sometimes in life we have to make sacrifices and difficult decisions but that is the reality. We also cannot forget that we also have to consider our own happiness. I do not think it’s being selfish. It simply is a way to make ourselves feel alive as what Mr. Morgan said in his letter to Sharon in the movie. That scene where Sharon was reading that letter of Mr. Morgan after he died was the most touching scene for me and I have to fight back tears. Finding your happiness that would make you feel alive. I can relate the story to someone close to me and it is my prayer that they work things out well for their family wherever they are. The story really touches those who are OFWs themselves or their families who feel well the sentiments of the movie. Well if you have not seen it then I guess you might as well see it in the big screen.
