Survivors of Sunken M/V Princess of the Stars

MV Princess of the Stars Sunken Ship

Survivors of Sulpicio Lines’ MV Princess of the Stars, which sank on Saturday as Typhoon Frank was lashing in the Visayas, Luzon and parts of Mindanao was counted at four as of yesterday. Families of the victims are looking for a list of survivors. Today there were said to be 32 survivors who were rescued in Mulanay, Quezon Province after more than 24 hours after it sank in Sibuyan Island, Romblon. The MV Princess of the Stars left for Manila bound for Cebu On Friday. The Coast Guard guidelines are now being reviewed after it allowed the ship to set sail on Friday at 8PM carrying more than 700 passengers and crew members even at the height of Typhoon Frank (international codename Fengshen) because under the rules it was large enough to stay afloat in the typhoon’s periphery. Unfortunately, on Saturday Typhoon Frank suddenly changed its northerly course and was heading directly into the path of the MV Princess of the Stars.

I am saddened by the news. I just hope that they find more survivors.

I am just wondering why do the shipping lines continue to travel on this kind of condition. Knowing that mother nature always changes its course. Sigh.

I know Sulpicio lines had a rep of lots of sinking ships. :( Never really tried riding that ship.

p.s. How are you all doing there? Kamusta ang Davao?

@BAV, I hope that your colleague survived this tragedy. Do you have any news of her so far? We continue to pray that this far there could still be survivors somewhere safe.
