M. Night Shyamalan’s “The Happening”

The Happening is written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan. He also wrote, produced and directed the movies: Lady in the Water, Sixth Sense, Signs, Unbreakable and Wide Awake (not the producer though).
As the movie says “We’ve Sensed It. We’ve Seen The Signs. Now… It’s Happening.” It stars Mark Wahlberg (Elliot Moore), Zooey Deschanel (Alma Moore), John Leguizamo (Julian), and Ashlyn Sanchez (Jess). It is a paranoid thriller about a family on the run from a natural phenomena that presents a large-scale threat to humanity. Imagine plants communicating with each other and releasing toxins into the air as they feel threatened by humans and treating us as pests. It is scary and kind of gross because it is graphic with some scenes and I have to admit I was still shaken when I left the cinema. It took awhile to go back to reality that it was just a movie we watched and somehow it will make you think too of that possibility and the responsibility we have to prevent something terrible like that from ever happening.
Saw the movie The Happening last Monday. Actually planning to watch Wanted since its world wide release last Friday. Upon arriving at NM Cinema, I was more into watching The Happening, H wants Wanted so played pick to decide which movie to watch. I did not win but still ended up with The Happening.
