UPDATE: Nadal dethrones Federer at Wimbledon with scores 6-4, 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-7 (8), 9-7.
Roger Federer is out to win his sixth straight Wimbledon title in the Wimbledon 2008 Men’s Singles Finals. Will he get it or will the Spaniard Rafael Nadal stop him? But the Sunday men’s finals is not about the big check worth £750,000 awaiting the winner. It is more of the pride for winning the much sought after title. Federer wants his ambition fulfilled with a 6th straight Wimbledon title while Nadal is bent on breaking Federer’s ambition and at the same time become the first Spaniard to win the Wimbledon men’s title since Manolo Santana in 1966.
Federer is also running after the holy grail of the men’s game, going after Pete Sampras (oh my IDOL!) who has a record of 14 Grand Slam titles. If ever Federer wins today’s men’s final match, he will now have 13 titles. With the US Open which will start late August, one of his favorite tournaments, who knows that he will then tie Pete Sampras’ 14 Grand Slam titles record. Stand by for the Wimbledon 2008 Men’s Singles Finals result. Best of luck to you guys!
