Ladies Finger a.k.a. Okra

For my GTS entry, my dad grew this vegetable locally called Okra or Ladies Fingers in English. Honestly I never knew that is its English translation.
Anyway, this was planted in my dad’s old small fish pond located in the front yard which he intentionally dried up because it somehow became a breeding place for mosquitoes. Last Wednesday morning we saw this flower opened up and then in the afternoon it looked like it withered but not really then after a few days it became an okra.

Happy GTS,

2008 Jul 14 3I almost bought a couple of Okra plants this year but as I only use it once or twice a year in gumbo I decided against it. Should have gotten them. That’s beautiful.
