Happy Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola!
30 Jul 2008
I received the greeting from Fr. Renato C. Ocampo, S.J. our Alumni Director reminding us all that tomorrow, July 31 as the Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola who is the Founder of the Society of Jesus [the Jesuits]. Happy Fiesta to all especially the graduates of Jesuit Education! May St. Ignatius of Loyola pray for all of us and may we continue to strive to be MEN AND WOMEN FOR OTHERS who are strong in faith – Fortes in Fide!
There will be University Masses on both campuses early morning then there will be an early afternoon motorcade from Jacinto Campus to Matina Campus which will be a special convocation. These are part of a number of activities on both Jacinto and Matina campuses tomorrow in celebration of the feast of our founder, St. Ignatius of Loyola as well as the Jubilee celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the Ateneo de Davao’s existence. The Jubilee theme is “60 Years of Excellence and Service.” This year is also the Jubilee celebration of 50 years of the Philippine Jesuit Province. The Philippine Province of the restored Society of Jesus was established on February 2, 1958, with Very Rev. Francis X. Clark S.J. as the very first Provincial-Superior. Xavier University, established in 1933 as Ateneo de Cagayan is also celebrating this year its 75th year of service. For more of XU@75, it may be viewed at http://www.xu.edu.ph/.
