Today is the start of the 10th DATE Davao Trade Expo which will be held for three days starting today October 23 to 25, 2008 at the Davao Convention & Trade Center (DAVCON) with the theme DAVAO: Land of Great Opportunities and Possibilities.

In its 10th year, DATE 2008 continuous to provide various agencies, companies, local government units, businessmen and entrepreneurs a venue to offer and introduce their new products and services. There will be exhibits, sales, trainings and business matching. It also give opportunities to industries to be matched with other sectors.

The opening of DATE on October 23 will have the following officials namely ABS CBN executive officer Gina L. Lopez, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, DTI Usec Merly Cruz, Usec Virgilio Leyretana, DOLE XI regional director Jalilo dela Torre, DCCCII chair Simeon Marfori II, DCCCII chair of the board John Y. Gaisano, Governors Rodolfo del Rosario of Davao del Norte, Miguel Dominguez, Sarangani, Daisy Reyes, South Cotabato, Jesus Sacdalan, North Cotabato, Suharto Mangundadato, Sultan Kudarat, Mayor Aniano Antalan of Samal and Indonesian Consul Lalu Malik Partwana.

Trainings for small and medium entrepreneurs will also be held where four seminars will be conducted at the VIP Room of Coco’s Restaurant beside the Davcon at F. Torres Street in Davao City.

DATE 2008 chairperson Antonio dela Cruz said training has become a regular activity because they wanted entrepreneurs to acquire new knowledge and inputs to continuously improve their business.

One of these seminars is on training on marketing “Make More Money: Manage Your Funds (The Blue Ocean Strategy) that will be discussed by D. Freddie Serapio, DBA, professor and marketing program director of School of Business and Governance at the Ateneo de Davao University, October 23, 2008 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

Human resource management training particularly on “Taking Care of People for Competitive Advantage” will be handled by Dr. Myrna Viado, human resource department head of One Network Bank, October 24, 2008 from 9:30 am to 11:30 am.

“Creating Sustainable Competitive Advantage thru E-Commerce” will be handled by Dr. Jed Loma, director of Corporate Communications at the Asian Pacific College, October 25, 2008 from 9:30 am to 11:30 am while “Effective Customer Service in the Corporate World will be discussed by Mr. Newell V. Cubacub, Pit Manager of Casino Filipino and an expert in the field of customer service, October 24, 2008 from 9:30 am to 11:30 am.
