P11.6B Fund Released for Half of All Year-End Bonuses and Cash Gifts of Government Employees

Yes you read that right! The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has released about P11.6 billion to cover half of all year-end bonuses and cash gifts for more than one million government employees nationwide. This good news for government employees was announced today, Tuesday to cheer them up according to Rolando Andaya, Budget Secretary. The said year-end benefits for government employees will be given on time and without delay.
The Budget Circular No. 2005-6 which was released last October 28, 2005, states that the remainder of the bonus should be received by employees “not earlier than November 15 but not later than November 30 of each year.”
This year-end bonus was equal to an employee’s one month salary and the additional cash gift amounted to P5,000. Gov’t employees had received the first half of the bonus in the middle of the year. In two weeks time, government employees will get their bonus.
Who are covered with the said bonus? Employees in all national government agencies, state universities and colleges, government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs), government financial institutions (GFIs), and local government units (LGUs). “Contractual employees who perform functions of a regular employee” will also benefit get the same bonus.
