Misa de Gallo December 16-24
15 Dec 2008

Misa de Gallo, the traditional nine-day dawn masses before Christmas starts tomorrow December 16 to 24 with masses starting around 4:00AM – 5:30AM, as an expression of devotion to God and to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
In the nearby Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, the Misa de Gallo will be 4:30AM – 5:30AM starting tomorrow. There will be novena masses every night at 8:00PM.
The photo above was taken at the Holy Spirit Adoration Convent or more popularly called the Pink Sisters Convent which is my favorite place before to attend the Misa de Gallo. I just love the ambiance there and how they decorate the altar during the entire Misa de Gallo with the flower arrangement being changed every sngle day. And the way the sister sing with such angelic voice.
Misa de Gallo is the selling of traditional Philippine food, such as puto bumbong (a purple colored rice pastry, seasoned with grated coconut and brown sugar),tsokolate (a hot cocoa drink), bibingka (flour and egg cakes cooked on top and under), and salabat, or ginger tea, which are sold by vendors outside churches to the faithful.
