Christmas 2008
25 Dec 2008
Happy Birthday Jesus and Merry Christmas to all of you!!!
December 25, today is the Birthday of Jesus and the reason why we greet each other merry Christmas today!
So how is your Christmas 2008 day going on? We just arrived home after we have been to my parents’ house where all of us in our family were there except for my sister Len, nephew Nino and BIL Boyet who are in UK. We had a rather late lunch Christmas celebration around 2PM. We arrived there around past 1PM since we could not find a taxi coz their trunklines are busy and if we were able to get through there is none available.
Anyway, if there is a will there is a way. So we went to VP while hubby got our two orders of deep fried spicy spare ribs which happens to be hubby and mine’s favorite which we ordered from our favorite Chinese restaurant in Davao Ahfat Seafoods Plaza at the back of the Victoria Plaza / Victoria Plaza Compound in Davao City. We brought that and we ordered food which were delivered in my parents’ house. It was also some sort of belated birthday treat from hubby who had his birthday 6 days ago
We – hubby, me, CT and my sister C, visited the Our Lady of Lourdes Parish nearby to see the improvements with the ongoing construction. There has been big progress with the altar and the floor has been all cemented, and there were Christmas lanterns made by each GKK in the parish which were displayed hanging around the side of the church. I met one of our neighbors who was incharge with the acquisition of the parish’s office furniture but we did not talk long since there will be a mass shortly and we have to go home too since the skies are dark and there seems to be a heavy rain coming plus it is so hard to find a taxi ride today.
Earlier this afternoon when we were leaving the house the traffic and partial closure of the road in front of Victoria Plaza Mall coming from downtown area going to the north part of the city was closed because of the fire near DMSFÂ or Dona Vicenta if I am not mistaken. Even when we were leaving home and we got to the street, we could see the dark smoke and three speeding Chinese fire trucks passed by in front of us in the street where we were waiting for a taxi, plus another one that passed through the intersection nearby.
Then there was that rather strong earthquake that shook Christmas 2008 us around 11:30 this morning. I also remember during Christmas a few years ago, there was also an earthquake which seems like a wake up call to Catholics to remind those who have not gone to mass to attend one during this important day of Jesus.
Now we are here at home resting while CT has been sleeping since we rode the taxi going back home. I had a happy time seeing my family and especially seeing my nieces and nephews happy with our cash gifts. We spent time with my family this Christmas, the family that hubby and I lived with since. We did not stay long though since CT is so sleepy already, the sky seems to be threatening to pour down rain heavily and it is hard to find a taxi ride going home. As what Fr. Zaldy said in the homily in the Christmas day mass we attended this morning at SH, “Spend time with your family this Christmas!” And indeed we did just that! Merry Christmas!!!
