Now LIVE is the 2-hour American Idol 2009 Season 8 Finale. The American Idol 2009 Season 8 top 13 did the opening number after Adam Lambert and Kris Allen came onstage and seeing their fans live from their respective hometowns – Conway, Arkansas for Kris Allen and then San Diego, California for Adam Lambert.

- Allison Iraheta and Cyndi Lauper sang Time After Time
- Danny Gokey with Lionel Richie sang All Night Long
- Adam Lambert sang with Kiss
- Carlos Santana with Adam Lambert, Kris Allen and Danny Gokey
- Michael Sarver, Megan Joy with Steve Martin
- Rod Stewart with the male contestants of American Idol 2009
- Queen with Adam Lambert and Kris Allen sang We Are The Champions
They were also giving Golden Idol awards to those who auditioned.
