BSP Supports Cory-Ninoy P500 Bill Proposal
07 Aug 2009
Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) according to BSP Governor Amando Tetangco Jr. considers and supports the Cory-Ninoy P500 bill proposal. There was already a photo of the proposed bill (see photo below) that I saw where late President Corazon Aquino was placed next to the portrait of her late husband Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. on the existing P500 bill.
The BSP numismatic committee will be designing our new-generation currency notes also according to Tetangco. The central bank of the Philippines thinks it is also high time to issue new designs for the Philippine peso notes since many of these were already too old according to BSP Deputy Governor Amando Suratos. The said new notes will have security features to prevent counterfeits.
