Kim Clijsters is the US Open 2009 Women’s Singles Champion. She defeated Caroline Wozniacki, the ninth-seeded teen sensational and beautiful tennis player from Denmark, with final score of 7-5 6-3.
Clijsters became the first wildcard in tennis history to win a Grand Slam singles trophy. She has retired from tennis a few years ago when she started a family. She has her little daughter who looks like her watching her play and claim her victory. She won her first grand slam title in the US Open 2005. She became the first tennis player mom since 1983 (if I am not mistaken) who has won a Grand Slam title in tennis.
On her way to the finals Clijsters defeated the two Williams sisters, first Venus then Serena in their semi-finals match. Serena lost the match to Clijsters due to a point penalty given to Serena at match point because of a foot fault called by line judge that Serena reportedly shouted at and berated. Serena Williams was fined.
I was a little teary eyed when she won coz I am also s mom like her. It is inspiring of how much she has worked for to have this great comeback to US Open where she won in 2005. Love to see her daughter on screen! Way to go Kim!
