He was too strong for Roger. Juan Martin Del Potro defeats Roger Federrer in the US Open 2009 Men’s Singles Championship. Del Potro has such strong serves and especially his forehand. This 20 year tennis player from Argentina won his first Grand Slam in his career. World number 1 and 5th straight US Open defending Champion Roger Federrer would have won his 6th straight US Open Monday but Del Potro was just too strong. Final score out of 5 sets: 6-3, 7-6(5), 6-4, 7-6(4), 6-2. He is only the second Aregentinian to win the US Open.

In the 5th set of the championship match, I would see Federrer hitting the ball wide (out). We are still watching the replay of the match and I saw Federrer still trying to fight till the end. If Clijsters knelt and cried when she won the women’s singles yesterday, Del Potro laid on the floor, and cried too!
