American Idol Season 9 Top 9 Performance Night
07 Apr 2010
Watching the American Idol Season 9 Top 9 Performance Night with the remaining 9 Idol finalists singing songs of John Lennon and Paul McCartney this week.
First off was Aaron Kelly sang the Long and Winding Road by Paul McCartney. Randy said the arrangement was something sleepy. Ellen said it was a long and winding song. Kara said he had to be great and he did not reached that level. Simon said it was boring and agreed with Kara that his performance was the same week after week.
Katie Stevens sang Let It Be. Randy said it was her best performance ever. Ellen said there is no way she’d be in the bottom three this week. Kara said great vocal and she is blossoming with confidence and she sounded better. Simon said tonight she got it right tonight she has done well tonight. I am impressed with her performance and she is a beautiful girl.
Andrew Garcia sang Can’t buy me Love. Randy said it was okay, it was alright. I say it was good but not the best of Andrew. Ellen said it was a perfect song choice for him. Kara said she did not see anything new this week and he could have done more. Simon said it was corny, old-fashioned and irrelevant done with the band over powering him and his guitar.
Michael Lynche sang Eleanor Rigby. I don’t know the song so while Big Mike was singing it made me say that. Am not that impressed but the people and judges obviously loved it. Randy said he got that license now and he can do anything now. Love see the artist in him. Ellen said incredible and loved it. Kara said that was fire and his vocals was amazing. Simon said it was too over the top.
Crystal Bowersox sang Come Together. Her voice sounded different and as she explained before she performed that she has a cold. Randy said it was another solid performance. Ellen said she never cease to amaze her and she loved it. Kara said it was one of her favorite performances and said it was sexy. Simon said the song worked for her and it was much better than last week. All judges were impressed as always. Way to go Crystal!
continued…
Tim Urban sang All My Lovin’. The song and the look seems to fit Tim well! Randy said it was a good “Tim performance” and he liked it. Ellen said said it was the perfect song choice for his performance and he had the Paul McCartney look right now. Kara said liked that he finally listened to what they have been saying. Simon said he did well on that song and just the right thing to do. Plus he took their criticisms like a man, no whining. I think Tim did well this week.
Casey James sang Jealous Guy by John Lennon. Randy said love the sensitive vibe and was impressed. Ellen said it was for here his best performance to date, so soulful, beautiful arrangement and was moved by his great voice… and hair! Kara said he showed depth and that he showed more this week and can show more in the next few weeks. Simon said it was the best performance and was very, very impressed with his performance. I love this guy!
Go Casey! Go Crystal!
Siobhan Magnus sang Across the Universe. Interesting dress she has on. Randy said he loved the dress, the tender side, and the artistry in her. Ellen said she marched the beat of their own drum, that she is special and really talented. Kara said she did hit the notes, though very restrained and very polite not usual of her. Simon said she came back much stronger and better than last week compared to a disastrous last week.
Lee Dewyze sang Hey Jude. Randy said he has the confidence now and to “please believe”. Ellen said he has much confidence and he did a great job. Kara said he felt comfortable and it’s hot. Simon said he did good but the bagpipe somehow took the attention away from his performance.
