Ryan Seacrest’s opening line… “A paint salesman, a student, a glass blower, a mother, a father and a construction worker.” All these six vying to become the next American Idol.
He then goes off giving big thanks after they raised over $45 million dollars that was earned during last week’s Idol Gives Back show that will help children in America and around the world. It’s Shania Twain country song week. The once guest judge during the audition is now their guest mentor for this week’s American Idol Season 9 Top 6 Performance Night April 27, 2010.
Lee Dewyze first off sang Still the One. Honestly the start of his version did not click for me. Lee is that contestant who has the talent yet somehow lack that spark. But at least he is smiling now. Randy said he was worried he did this song but seem he did a pretty good job. Ellen said he did more than a pretty good job. He could look more cuter. I say he could look more confident. Kara said to look at how far he has come and he did a good job. Simon said it was absolutely the perfect song though he was pulling weird faces. Simon does not know if he was smiling or what.
Michael Lynche sang It Only Hurts When I’m Breathing. Am not familiar with the song but I liked his rendition. Randy said he did a great job and he is “in the zone” of who he is. Ellen said he was like Luther Vandross. Kara said she admired how he rendered the song. Yes I agree he sang it well from the heart it even made Shania say he got me and he made her teary eyed even when she was mentoring him. But Simon said Big Mike’s performance was a little wet whatever he meant by that. A little bit girly Simon explains more. A post I read earlier said Big Mike might be in danger of being in the bottom three this week.
Casey James sang Don’t. Shania said he has to show more confidence. Randy said it was one of his best performance ever. Ellen said he sang it like that’s where he really belongs and this was his best performance he has done to date. Simon said he agreed with Randy and this is one of his best performance ever. What can I say? I love this guy and his voice! Don’t worry hubby knows!
Crystal Bowersox sang No One Needs to Know. She said it was a song for her boyfriend. I wish she didn’t have a backup singer. Randy said it was not his fave performance of her but he loved her always. Ellen said not her fave performance either but she has always been brilliant and good. Kara said it was believable, not her best but she is still amazing. Simon said they don’t like her this week as it was limb and it reminded him of someone hired to sing in a coffee shop. This is the only week he did not like Crystal’s performance. Lack of conviction eh! Yet we can’t deny Crystal is still popular. Would she be part of the bottom three for the first time ever? I truly hope not!!!
Aaron Kelly sang You Got a Way. Aaron has grown with the show. Randy said he did a really good job. Ellen said it’s gonna be tough with everybody and he is doing well as a 17 year old. Kara said he really felt the song. Simon said he struggled during the last three weeks but tonight it seems he is a different artist this week. It felt sincere and believable and he did very well tonight.
Siobhan Magnus sang Any Man of Mine. It’s kind of weird for me feeling it did not seem country for me. Randy said he loved it. Ellen said it was a good way to end the show… fantastic. Kara said guess who’s back! Simon said he really liked the song. The screaming at the end though seemed like she was kind of giving birth eh? Yeah that disturbed me a bit but I always find Siobhan’s talent unique. Go girl!
