Naveen Jain is an Indian born businessman who has risen to become regarded as one of the richest and most influential men in the United States. He joined Microsoft as a program manager in the late 1980s before starting InfoSpace in 1996. Naveen Jain worked as Chief Executive at Infospace for a total of 6 years but staying on the board a further 3 years. It was this period which saw his personal wealth soar to see him include towards the one billion dollars figure.
In the year 2000 the accumulated wealth of Naveen Jain had reached over 2 billion dollars and he made the list of 400 richest Americans, coming in at number 121. He reportedly lost 5 million dollars in the bankruptcy of Freei, a company for whom he worked on the board of directors. A loss like this would have ruined most people but Naveen Jain has continued to look for new ways of increasing his wealth and power through the setting up of cutting edge companies which serve a public need.
His latest venture, Intelius, began life in 2003. This new company provides the likes of background checks and protection against identity theft, working in the field of public records information.
