Archbishop of Davao Fernando R. Capalla has called on Catholics in all the parish churches and chapels in the Archdiocese of Davao to join in a Day of Prayer and Fasting on May 9 for 2010 Elections which will be on Monday, May 10 already.

In his pastoral letter dated April 16, 2010, here are some parts of what Archbishop Capalla said:

The May 10, 2010 National and Local Elections are crucially important in the life of our country and people. Because of this, the Archdiocese has decided to participate actively in the electoral process.

Threats to peace and integrity of the elections are a serious concern for all of us. As Church we can minimize these byintense prayer and fasting.

I am therefore declaring the Sunday 09 May 2010 as a Day of Prayer and Fasting in all parish churches and chapels.

We will always pray for a very peaceful and orderly elections. Vote wisely on Monday too!
