We have just witnessed the inauguration of the 15th President of the Philippines, President Benigno Aquino III at the Quirino Grandstand.

There was a program prior to the oath taking. The Apo Hiking Society sang “Minamahal Kong Pilipinas”. Christian Bautista sang You Raised Me Up by Josh Groban. Ogie Alcasid sang after which Regine Velasquez sang “Hindi Ka Nag-Iisa”. “Bagong Pilipinas” the Inaugural Song for President Noynoy Aquino sang by Ogie Alcasid, Regine, Jim Paredes, Noel Cabangon, Gary Valenciano, Jed Madela, Christian Bautista, and Nina. It is a nice song for unity and a call to change for a new Philippines. It was composed by Ogie Alcasid in collaboration with Noel Cabangon who said it took them just two hours to finish the song that Ogie started.

Senate President Senator Juan Ponce Enrile read the Congress proclamation declaring the new president and vice-president.

Noel Cabangon plays crowd-pleaser “Ako’y Isang Mabuting Pilipino” at inauguration rites. He also sang one of my fave song “Kanlungan”.

The program started earlier which later required the organizers to ask the performers to extend the program longer. Based on tradition and in our Constitution, the new president takes oath at 12 noon and yet there was still quite a lot of time earlier therefore it seems Noel Cabangon had to entertain and sing more of his songs. The usual formal inauguration as some observed turned out to be one of the coolest they have seen seemingly becoming like a concert in my opinion. Also President Aquino seems to be in such a happy mood.

“Noynoy Aquino” was trending worldwide in Twitter before he took oath as the new president. His girlfriend Valenzuela City Councilor Shalani Soledad looks beautiful in her yellow gown by Rajo Laurel.

I saw Supreme Court Chief Renato Corona was in attendance. I did not see James Yap though I read before that he will still be attending the inauguration despite the marital problems they have with Kris Aquino. Former Presidents Estrada and Ramos were seated near President Aquino.

Associate Justice Conchita Carpio Morales administered the oath taking of Vice President Jejomar Binay and President Benigno Aquino III. President Aquino delivered his Inaugural Address in Filipino. He said “there can be no reconciliation if there is no justice”. Aquino bares plans for education, infrastructure, health, employment. And says his administration will examine those midnight appointments made. We will be praying that his promising promises mentioned in his address will truly be delivered. President Benigno Aquino III salutes the joint armed forces for the first time as President of the Republic of the Philippines. The inauguration rites  has ended and people are invited a to post-ceremony celebration at the Quezon Memorial Circle. God bless us all for a new Philippines!
