Vuvuzela
10 Jul 2010
And so that’s how the controversial vuvuzela sounds like! Listen to the video below which I just found in YouTube earlier. Since the FIFA World Cup 2010 started a month ago, I keep hearing this very noisy background when we try to watch a match on the cable TV.
I have heard about the vuvuzela before but I never thought that the rather annoying buzzing sound that I hear on TV is in fact the sound of the vuvuzela! Yeah I know this post is about one month late but hey I know some if not many of you don’t follow the World Cup and may not have heard of this vuvuzela. I just thought the audio of the video coverage was not good every time I try to sit down and watch a match of running and kicking that lasts for 90 minutes. Could you imagine yourself in that soccer stadium watching the matches for an hour and a half then that whole time what you hear is this noise… hear it for yourself!
The vuvuzela or a Stadium Horn, is typically a 65 cm (2.13 ft) plastic blowing horn that produces a loud, distinctive monotone note.
The vuvuzelas have the potential to cause noise-induced hearing loss… need earplugs to protect from hearing loss during the World Cup. (source)
Hope you won’t be annoyed like some people who watch the World Cup matches but that sound basically is what you will hear all throughout each match no matter who’s playing. Am I annoyed? Not when I opt to mute the sound of the Tv while watching a World Cup match. *wink*
