August 30 Regular Holiday – National Heroes Day
13 Aug 2010
August 30, 2010 remains a non-working regular holiday as National Heroes Day. This was declared by Malacanang through Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda who made the announcement while the present administration is going to review on a case-by-case basis the holiday economics law (Republic Act 9492) implemented by the former Arroyo government.
There had been many reactions when President Aquino moved the August 23 Ninoy Aquino Day back to August 21, 2010 Saturday (special non-working holiday) therefore not making this coming weekend a three-day long weekend as a lot of people have been looking forward to for months now. Especially here in Davao, the people are expecting to rest on the Monday after the Kadayawan Festival activities next weekend.
Yesterday while watching the news, Mr. Lacierda advised the people not to plan their vacations just yet basing it on the long weekend holidays declared by the previous government.
I think those who have bought and booked their trips for the rest of the year have to brace themselves for any possibility of those expected holidays not being a holiday. But we are hoping for the best since
