Black Saturday – April 23, 2011 has been declared as a special non-working holiday according to Proclamation No. 150 signed by President Aquino today.
Maundy Thursday and Good Friday are regular holidays per Proclamation No. 84.
“The observance of Holy Week is one of our people’s most cherished traditions. Our people must be given the full and uninterrupted opportunity to ponder on the significance of the Holy Week and to properly observe its traditions with religious fervor, without prejudice to public interest,” according to the President.

(A) If the holiday fall on an employee’s regular workday
If either or both Maundy Thursday, April 21, or Good Friday, April 22, 2011 are worked , the employee is entitled to 200 percent of his (or her) basic wage on the first eight (8) hours and, for work in excess of the 8 hours, to an additional 30 percent of his or her hourly rate on the said day. But, if unworked, the employee is entitled to 100 percent of the regular daily rate, provided he or she was present, or was on leave with pay, on the workday immediately preceding the holiday.
