Starbucks Valencia Macchiato
21 Jan 2012

They have this new drink they are promoting as the barista said which is the Starbucks Valencia Macchiato. This is what I read related to it…
A mocha with Valencia (orange) syrup and an extra espresso shot added, with whipped cream and orangey sprinkles on top. These taste like the chocolate oranges you can buy in various stores. This doesn’t appear on the menu as often as it used to, so newer baristas may not be familiar with the exact recipe.
From what I read it uses sweet Valencia (orange) syrup which makes the beverage taste tangy and sweet with this honey orange. The barista as I remember said lemon though not orange and it does taste lemon. I only drank a little of what hubby ordered in tall size of this so we can just try it for the first time and see if we like it.
I, on the other hand, went for my usual Starbucks hot peppermint mocha which I hope they would serve in their red holiday cups but did not. I saw them using the red cups on others. I wonder why? I just wanted to cherish using the red cups before they are totally gone until the next Christmas season. I think they are choosing those who they use it for. Yes I cannot hide my disappointment right? This is strike two actually because this is the second time and I saw there are still red cups there for use. Well it’s just a cup so I’d let go of it if they give preference to others while we have been somewhat regular customers there. Maybe I still need to specify and remind them next time that I want the red cup for my holiday beverage. LOL!
Anyway, the taste that strikes us as soon as we drank this one reminds both hubby and me of a rather strong lemon or citrus smell of maybe a freshener that we recently used. No offense for those who love this drink really for that comparison because that’s just the most recent thing that smells like it that we can think of. We don’t use lemon except for calamansi which tastes a little different from this taste. I only drank a little of this as hubby reminded me after I remember being told by a doctor that anything citrus may not be good even for mild asthmatics like me. But I am glad that my curiosity has been satisfied as to how the Starbucks Valencia Macchiato tasted.
