The Bureau of Food and Drugs or BFAD has released a partial list of milk and other milk products that are being tested for melamine contamination. Leticia Barbara Gutierrez who is the BFAD Chief has urged the the consumers and the public not to buy these milk and other milk products until BFAD is finished with their tests, per interview at dzMM. But most consumers have avoided buying most milk products which they doubt for the possibility of having melamine. It is better to be safe than sorry as this China milk scare continues. This is an alarming news especially for parents as milk from China has been found to be contaminated with the chemical melamine which is banned on food and so far it has killed four (4) babies while other babies who have drank the contaminated milk had been affected with kidney problem and kidney stones. Now there are said to be 6,244 reported cases of infants who got sick according to China’s Health Minister Chen Zhu on Wednesday. Among these, four babies have died. The fourth baby died at a hospital in remote northwestern Xinjiang, according to a regional Chinese health authority yesterday.
