My sis asked me to answer this question from That’s My Answer which I willingly obliged. This is a question she saw at my notebook which I left open in the room. She chose this question which my niece agrees too.

Yes, you read that right! David Cook, the 25 year old rocker, is the new American Idol winning over 17 year old smooth-voiced teen, David Archuleta! Photo shown here, right, is the American Idol winner David Cook performing during the show’s finale at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles May 21, 2008.
Just yesterday, Simon Cowell declared on his own during the final match up that Archuleta is the contest’s knockout winner. But in a twist of fate, David Cook is now the American Idol winner for Season 7!
Cowell also apologized for his comment in last Tuesday’s night show just before Ryan Seacrest announced the results on Wednesday.
“I went back home to watch it, it wasn’t quite so clear cut as we called it,” Cowell said, adding to Cook: “I will take this opportunity to apologize because I think I was verging on disrespectful with you. I don’t think you deserved that.” (source)
